The US visit
The following are some photos from a July/August 2009 visit to California. Patrice's brother Gene was in Menlo Park for a few days on business from Washington D.C. At the weekend we went across to Santa Cruz and Capitola on the coast and visited the Henry Cowell Redwoods' State Park at Felton. Later in my four weeks there we drove the 575 miles to Las Vegas and Patrice's sister, husband and children joined us at their timeshare there. Many casinos (Paris, Bellagio, New York New York, the Venetian, Mandalay Bay, the Mirage, Wynn's, Caesar's Palace, Rio, Harrahs, Monte Carlo, Excalibur, Luxor, Hooters, MGM Grand, Palazzo, Terrible's) were visited, buffets experienced and weight added. Trice managed to use the free money that the rest of us got through in ten minutes or less to stay on a slot machine for two hours. However she never quite managed to exceed the $2000 barrier imposed for the free money to convert into real money. Temperatures were over 110 degrees F outside during the day and, even at night, they were in the high 80's.
